Protect the Women Who Protect Us: Close Military Health Gaps

HealthyWomen’s senior policy advisor advocates for the military to better address the healthcare needs of servicewomen

In a new opinion piece published this month in The Hill, HealthyWomen’s senior policy advisor, Martha Nolan, advocated for policy change to better serve the nation’s military women and veterans. Despite women representing the fastest-growing group in the veteran population, healthcare services for both active-duty and veteran women fall short. Nolan urged the Department of Defense to adopt its own Defense Health Agency’s recommendations to improve the health, readiness and retention of servicewomen.
